The training is designed for novice and experienced interpreters who have had no formal interpreting education so far and who want to bring their skills to the next level. It is for truly bilingual individuals who want to increase their employability, their job retention or want to create opportunities for a career change.

The course covers the Code of Ethics, interpreter modes and interpreting techniques, cultural competency, memory development, introduction into medical terminology and specialties, an overview about the healthcare system in the US and also professional development such as an overview about the National Certification for medical interpreters and possibilities in the field in general. The course is interactive with many hands-on activities, role plays and group work.

After completion of this course, you will be awarded a “Certificate of Attendance” (shall not be misunderstood as “certification”).

This 40-Hour Interpreter Training satisfies all requirements set by the IMIA (International Medical Interpreter Association) and therefore serves as prerequisite for the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters.

Proof of Language Proficiency in both working languages is mandatory.

This training is designed for experienced interpreters who want to become certified through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (www.certifiedmedicalinterpreters.org).
It is a preparatory course which covers the topics necessary for the written exam such as Code of Ethics, medical terminology and medical specialties. It is an interactive and fun course with many hands-on activities to assure and support the learning process.
